LPI Power Line Surge Filter 6A, 10A, 16A
We are offering The LPI® Power Line Surge Filter which is a multi-mode (L-N, L-E, N-E) surge protection device housed in a DIN enclosure and rated for loads up to 6A/10A/16A. These offer s visual status indication and are designed to clip onto a standard 35mm DIN rail. Due to the low let through voltage it is an ideal power protection device for sensitive electronic equipment. The salient features are as follows: • High performance low current power filter • Multi mode protection (L-N, L-E and N-E) for sensitive loads • High kA rating providing longer operating life • Internal thermal fuses protected • Power and Status indication The installation process is as follows: • It is mandatory that the LPI PLSF range be installed by a licensed electrical contractor in accordance with local standards and regulations • If some latitude is allowed in the positioning of the filter, choose a location which affords a short direct run to a substantial earthing point, either a station earth bar or switchboard earth bus otherwise, use the distribution wiring • The earth impedance of the electrical system should be less than 10 ohms • The purpose of the filter is to remove surges and other overvoltage disturbances, which may be caused by induction or direct injection therefore, it is vital to segregate input and output cabling • Do not run these cables in a common duct, treat the input cabling as dirty • Use the V or Kelvin method Check continuity and insulation with a hand held multimeter • Designed to clip on to a standard 35mm DIN rail (DIN43800), all units are to be installed in series with the circuit being protected, polarity is important, line and load side connections should be observed. • Do Not Perform a Megger Test as it will cause the surge suppression components to operate, which will produce a test result that indicates excessive leakage (this is meant to happen). Application These are hardwired in final power subcircuits of low voltage distribution systems to provide protection for sensitive electronic equipment. Our surger filters will not interfere with the operation of residual current devices (RCDs) and may be placed on the load side of such devices. The LPI PLSF range has a surge handling capability to suit AS1768 category locations A and B in reasonably exposed areas. Moreover, these are not specifically designed for point of entry protection. In a total solution it would be normal to augment the LPI PLSF-6A with surge diverters of a suitable rating at the point of entry.

These have status indicators, remote alarm contact and optional surge counter Electronic equipment which are highly susceptible to damage from lightning and other transient pulses (including man made switching transients), which arrive via the powerlines through direct strike, or inductive and capacitive coupling. The salient features are as follows: • Provides multiple stage protection against incoming surges & transients and shall be installed in series with the incoming mains power supply to the equipment or building • Shunt-only clamping alone is not sufficient, as it does not limit the excessive wavefront characteristic of the pre-clamped waveform • The LPI Surge Filter will reduce the rate of rise of voltage (dv/dt) to below 15V/s as per AS1768 Cat B 3kA (8/20s) applied impulse and to below 30V/ for AS 1768 Cat C 20kA (8/20) applied impulse • Filter is designed for multistroke lightning events and is supplied with spark gaps as the primary protection between Phase and Neutral rated at 50kA 10/350s (135kA 8/20s) • The second stage consists of ferro-cored inductors and capacitors (L-C Filtering) which further attenuates the let-through voltage already clamped by the primary stage • Ferro-cored inductors are used as they are much smaller than non-saturating air-cored inductors • Unlike primary MOV protection, the let through voltage of Spark Gaps remain high for only a few microseconds and hence ferro-cored inductors are a practical alternative • The filter attenuates noise and any armonics present on the power system and is designed to attenuate transverse and common mode noise • The third stage consists of SS275 diverters connected across the load side; these are designed to suppress surges generated by load side equipment. LPI SG+SS275 filter limits the voltage differential due to a lightning induced impulse between phase and neutral as well as from neutral to ground thus; providing both common mode and differential (transverse) mode protection • Neutral to earth protection rated at 100kA 10/350 (150kA 8/20) is provided to limit feedback currents if the site earth goes high potential with respect to the sub station or transformer earth • Designed to suit TT, TN-C, TN-S, TN-C-S & IT distribution systems • Ferro cored inductors dv/dt and di/dt of the incoming surge will be reduced by 1000 times • Primary (135kA 8/20) and secondary (40kA 8/20) surge protection (Total of 175kA 8/20 per phase). •  High N - E protection rating100kA 10/350, 150kA 8/20 • High performance surge protector for an operating voltage of 110 - 220Vac • Encapsulated spark gap and SS275 technology capable of operation under fault /overvoltage conditions up to 275Vac • Three stage protection provides highest level of protection for sensitive electronic equipment
